The iPhone drastically beats Android into the ground when it comes to gaming. But that could be about to change, as Engadget claims to have received info from a ”trusted source” that Sony Ericsson is developing a gaming device running on Android 3.0. Engadget says that the hardware is a cross between a Samsung Galaxy S and a PSP Go, with gaming controls and PSP buttons instead of a QWERTY keyboard. Other rumoured features include a 3.7″ or 4.1″ capacitive WVGA touchscreen, a 5 MP camera and a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. The device is going to be mainly black but the gamepad will be silver or white. Note that the image above is an Engadget mockup of what the device could look like.

The good people over at XDA-Developers have rooted the smallest android phones on the market, the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro. Apparently it only takes a couple of clicks and a few minutes to root the X10 mini and the X10 mini Pro. Instructions for how to root are in the link below.

The Sony Ericsson Aspen (Faith) is a new Qwerty flavoured smartphone running, of all things, Windows Mobile 6.5.3. I’m guessing this might be the last Windows Mobile device I will review before Windows Phone 7 comes. How does it measure up in the this Android/iPhone/Blackberry heavy world?

This little video might be quite significant to the future of mobile devices. Be it games, telecommunications or navigation the screen is always the biggest aspect of the device. Imagine is it could be increased to aid a certain task. Well Sony is currently demoing a rather fancy new technology, a bendable OLED display. Sure it looks a little rough around the edges and the idea has been about for ages but the potential is immense when you think about it. The future Jack, the Future!
Here is a phone named Sony Ericsson W150i, and its codename is TeaCake. Reportedly, the handset currently runs Android 1.5 – it would be a stupid move for Sony Ericsson to release it like this, so we should hope it will have Android 2.1 at launch. The unconfirmed features of Sony Ericsson W150i include a 2.6 inch QVGA display, 5MP camera, and changeable covers.

Canadian network Rogers expects to see the Song Ericsson x10 being updated by Fall. That’s on heck of a long wait for those who have shelled out some big numbers to get the phone. I guess for those taking out a contract on Roger’s now that’ll only be a quarter, or perhaps a sixth of the way into their arrangement.
I’m guessing Android 2.3 will be arriving around about then or at least details of what to expect will be concrete but Sony Ericsson really should have gotten their finger out on this.

One of the lovely Booth Babes takes me on a tour of the five new devices and in particular the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. These are two funky devices that I think Sony Ericsson with sell a shed load of. Whilst the Vivaz and Vivaz Pro are quite nice and the X10 has mostly been covered the video below spends more time on the little brothers of these and it’s nice to see a pretty full feature set on such a small device. Check after the break for the video:
