Apple tablet arrived and it is called Apple iPad !!!

It’s beautiful!
Bad things:
— no multitasking
— cannot show Flash-enabled websites, no Flash
— no digitiser pen for high-precision drawing
— built-in battery
— you cannot make cellular phone calls, only voice over IP – the data card is “data only”
— no built-in camera(s)
— AT&T is exclusive provider in USA what is bad as people are sick and tired of AT&T’s network; the predictions that iPad will be available also with Verizon support appeared to be false
— “iPad 3G models are unlocked” => no SIM lock so you can buy 3G model without subscription and use it at your carrier of choice
Good things:
— it can run all iPhone apps out-of-the-box + it is possible to write apps especially for iPad but with the same SDK that is used for iPhone => huge synergy effect
— cheapest model is only $499 only and has no 3G, what may be an advantage considering how fast cellular technologies are developing (HSDPA 2 years ago was 3.6 MB/s only but now it is 14.4 MB/s standard with some operators having 28 MB/s operational in some cities)
— 10 hours battery life (when switched on, stand-by is counted in days)
— powered by ARM-compatible processor made by Apple itself – running at 1GHZ so faster than iPhone 3GS
— high resolution display => 1024×768 pixels with multitouch
— built-in GPS, compass, accelerometer – all the goodies from iPhone
— aluminium case (like in aluminium Macbooks) so very sturdy construction
— includes “iBooks” app that is Apple’s own eBook reader (hopefully it will have text search feature – that Amazon Kindle app for iPhone is missing sadly)

Whats with the bevel!
Looks nice but I had hoped for more. Strange to use a screen that is not 16:9 ratio if you want to watch movies on the device.. Lack of Flash will not be acceptable on a large device like this.
I’m sure current iPhone apps are not scalable to adjust to the high resolution screen, will be in a timy window or magnified like with a digital zoom.
No mention on syncing it with the iPhone or do I need a PC or MAC to sync the iPad and iPhone?
Is it the same crappy plastic, slippery back as on the iPhone?
Seems the dockingport connector should have been on the other side so you could dock it in landscape mode.
Still no multitasking apparently.

I agree, this is a luxury toy that is locked down for no good reason, no multi tasking is lame, this is not a phone, and how they can say it’s best internet experience ever without any flash is beyond me.
ahh the bevel is for grip, unlike a phone you do not grip the sides. That makes sense now I think about it.
Its going to be interesting to see how the tablet market develops, though i have been reading a few polls and one big question is if I have an iphone and a macbook why would I want this?
@Chris, @Jompao
Lack of Flash will be fixed soon with more open better video technologies with HTML 5. Flash will die soon, at least for video.
Other than that, I am completely underwhelmed by this device. I don’t care that there is no multi-tasking, or that the battery is non-removable. Mostly I think that without a camera and some type of revolutionary input system for taking notes with eBooks in hand this thing is dead in the water. Although, most didn’t think that the iPod would take off when released so Apple may show that this is what people want.
Not this guy though.
Hi
I like it and am sure that I will buy one. However for me it will just be a way of browsing the internet. On a device thats larger than my iPhone and smaller than my MacBook. Its never for me going to be my number one device, but it will be great for sitting on the sofa and checking out eBay etc.
I think that if it was more i.e more expensive and more like a MacBook I would not buy it. I am just not sure that I would want my main device to have a touch screen keypad.

.
Ubiquitous html5 is 2 years away. Flash is here for a while yet.
.
Has no value for me, but i may buy a couple for work as a flashy toy to show clients pics.
I’m sure it will sell well because of it’s userfriendlyness but as far as specs go I’m sure there will be a bunch of more appealing Android based tablets.
