O2 iPhone 3GS pricing announced

image And its not very good, especially if you are a current iPhone 3G subscriber your going to get stung. Basically there is no upgrade path and to upgrade you have to pay off the remainder of your current contract before you can upgrade. Then you have to sign up for a further 18 or 24 month contract and pay again for the iPhone 3GS, not a great deal.

Pay as you go pricing comes in at £342.50 for the original iPhone 3G 8Gig, £440.40 for the 16 Gig 3GS and a whopping £538.30 for the 32 Gig.

So are you upgrading ??

I can’t say I wouldn’t love to own an iPhone 3gs but with over 8 months left on my contract, little 3g coverage in my area and teathering being charged for; with the release of iPhone 3.0 I can’t see I’m missing out on a huge amount!

Who are O2 trying to kid with these pricings? In the US they’ve replaced the 16GB 3G with the 32GB 3Gs at the same price point. Here, I paid about £60 for my 16GB on an 18mnth tarrif and now they want £275 for the 32GB 3Gs on that tarrif. Well sorry O2, you can stick that one where the sun don’t shine!

Nope – well, not until my contract ends.

I’ve been loving my iPhone 3G and have been spreading the word of its wonderfulness to the point that most my friends, all my band mates and some of my family have since gone Appley.

I was like a kid at Christmas Eve watching the WWDC for new iPhone news – excited was not the word and then……………. O2 happened.

If something more lovely happens in the phone world between now and the end of my contract – my love affair with Apple handhelds may be over.
