10,000 iPhone apps now available
According to 148apps, there are now 10,000 iPhone apps available in the App Store. Out of that number, only 24% are free, but that’s still a considerable amount that translates to 2411 apps. Since September of this year, application submissions per month were consistently more than 2,000.
As for app classification, the most number of iPhone apps available belong to the gaming category with entertainment following suit. With these astounding figures, it’s no wonder why some iPhone users are completely giving up jailbreaking, but then again, as great as these numbers are, there are still apps that aren’t available via the App Store. How about you guys? What apps will still make you want to jailbreak your iPhone?

This is the reason why we develop for the App store and not the Blackberry. http://blog.cosential.com/?p=166
Although there are 10,000+ Apps you have to question the validity of at least 50% of these, the amount of quality productive Apps is negligible. There still isn’t a decent GPS program and there is no way Google Maps will suffice, The fact Google Maps now has public transport built into it may be a plus point but that was six months behind the Windows Mobile version. There are some quality games and some good Social networking interfaces; the use of Net Apps is fine but really…
iTree, iStylist Makeover and I can’t count the number of Apps dedicated to making your iPhone like a torch!!!
While Apple constrain developers the majority of the Apps in the Apps store will continue to be garbage and you have to dig deep to find something that one day just might be useful.
iBeer anyone?
This is why I can find pretty much any information I want with my iPhone ! For example, I love to ski, so I found a snow report app from REI on my iPhone and now I have access to snow conditions from different ski resorts I visit.
