Blackberry Storm lag issues
Since the launch of the Blackberry Storm there has been a lot stories floating around about a laggy OS amongst other things. Some reports suggest that the firmware was downgraded at the last minute to overcome these problems, seems strange that these problems are only mentioned on the US Verizon version not the Vodafone UK version. Mobility Today think very highly of the device and have produced a video showing the OS in action where you can make your own mind up if it is laggy or not, personally after watching it, it doesn’t seem too bad. See for yourself after the break.

Not a valid example of actual use of the phone, at least in my hands. The demo shows only doing short, limited things with simple sequences. If you start asking the phone to do more than one thing, i.e., start a text message and flip the phone horizontal at the same time to use the horizontal keyboard, things slow down significantly.
Or, try picking up the phone to use it vertically when it has “decided” that, when it was lying down on the desk, it was in horizontal view. You will find up to 7-8 seconds of lag before it figures that out–if it ever does. It may just stay horizontal, frozen.
I also concur that this is not a valid example. How about going from your phone being locked and then waiting 10 + seconds for it to unlock to do anything. Or (and I doubt its just my phone) it sometimes has to think before it receives a call. At times I’ve actually missed calls because it was still trying to display the caller ID.
I have a lot of annoyances with this phone. I have to hit answer call 3 or 4 times before the phone will actually answer the call, if it even answers the call before going to voicemail. I’ve had the same problems where the screen won’t flip for about 7-8 seconds after picking up or while texting. Sometimes it won’t even flip at all. If you put the phone between your shoulder and ear with no hands you end up putting the person on speaker phone. The phone does have some cool features.. big screen for reading emails and viewing the web… typing isn’t that bad once you get used to it. But… lagging screens annoy the crap out of me on this thing.
Yeah, not a valid example in deed. That must have been fresh out of the box. Mine used to be that fast until about a week after i started using it. Sometimes i don’t even hear the phone ring I just see the message that I had a missed call. I’m taking this sucka back for a new one, and then again if that one doesn’t work. And if that doesn’t work I am getting my money back and reverting to my old “dumb” phone that somehow works a lot better than this “smart” phone. hahaha. This phone is really cool if it didn’t have the lag issues
I to am having the same issue with the phone lagging and not registering a phone call in time to answer. I see a little “spinning image” like its loading or doing something, trying to tell me a call is coming through and by the time it starts to vibrate and show the # calling, the other person has already heard 3 or 4 rings. I was not sure if i was the only one. hopefully new software will fix this issue because other than the lagging thing, this phone rocks!
same as everyone else i miss cals due to the lag
