Log Me In coming for the iPhone and iPod Touch

image As a regular user of Log Me In for my home PC’s this announcement caught my eye. Get fast, simple access to your remote Internet-connected LogMeIn computers whenever you want, wherever you are and soon with your iPhone or iPod Touch. If you haven’t used this before you install a small application on your client PC and then you can access it and take full control from a remote source through the Log Me In web interface, it works really well and has saved me lots of times before. You can register now for the beta right here.

Sounds pretty cool, but it’s definitely going to be a bit pricey… I recently switched from LogMeIn Rescue over to another remote access tool called Techinline Remote Desktop (http://www.techinline.com) and find it to be an awesome low-cost alternative to all of these other high priced tools such as LogMeIn, Citrix, Webex etc..The great thing about it is that it requires no installation on either end since it runs through the browser, and that they offer a “pay as you go” plan which is very convenient for sporadic use. Out of all the tools I’ve tested recently, this one is the simplest and probably the most affordable as well.

Anthony – what are you talking about? Basic Log Me In “service” is free which allows for remote control. The only thing was that I just bought the app yesterday for my iPhone for $29.99. Yes, I was indeed skeptical about paying for this. I already had 5 computers that I accessed through LogMeIn and after switching back and forth between PC’s on the iPhone last night, its worth $50. Its fantastic and eliminates the need to carry around a laptop with a 3g card.

      To Kyle,

Are you saying that you can go to one (or more) of desktops using LogMeIn for the IPhone and can open a document or file in My docs folder and even open an application / program that runs on your computer? Is the $29.99 a one time charge or has annual renewals?

I recently purchased the app, although it is fantastic it is not worth the 30 dollars.
