iPhone Firmware 2.2 bringing OTA podcasts?

Rumours are spreading that the next iPhone 2.2 firmware will support over the air downloading of podcast episodes. This would go some way to explaining why Apple rejected the podcaster application from the App Store last month. The rumours also suggest that this download service will only be allowed over WiFi not 3G just like how the iTunes store on the iPhone works. If that is the case what was the point again of upgrading to an iPhone 3G for faster data? Screen shot after the break.
