Speed up the HTC Diamond Touchflo UI

image We wanted to share a couple of tips to speed up the Touch UI interface on the HTC Touch Diamond as the out of the box experience is far from enjoyable. We have posted a Youtube video after the break with three easy tips to do from the settings page of Windows Mobile along with a great program available called Advanced Config from XDA-Developers which makes a huge difference to the speed of the Touchflo interface.

Customise the File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072 There is a massive improvement in touchflo 3d and in the other functions of the phone.

The Advanced Config software is available to download from XDA-Developers

      Hi Chris
I have moved to a touch diamond from an iPhone and to be honest I was impressed with the new touch iu on the 1.37 rom.
since making the modifications above its even faster.
I have always liked windows mobile but the UI of the iphone is first class and I do enjoy using it but like to use my phone for more and finally I have a windows mobile that actually has a decent interface and good browser.
did have trouble getting used to pressing the screen hard coming from the iphone but now I am not having to think about it.
great site and I enjoy listening to your comments on mobility today podcast.

If you listen to this weeks podcast at Mobility Today I really did not think much of the Diamond, after a few tweaks I am warming to it but I think the problem is how good the touch experience is with the iPhone. having said that I have given the iPhone to my wife so I can really get into the Diamond and with the tweaks its really starting to perform for me and I am enjoying it, but it does still have a lot of niggles like the damned keyboard popping up when you try to read an sms and blocking the screen off, but hey the screen is beautiful. Thanks for the comments much appreciated

      Russ,

I just found a way to make the screen more response. I idid it on ny HTC Touch Cruise, and it reaaly made the response better! Even since i bought my Cruise couple of months ago i have been cursing the screen for not register all my commands. Now it is much more sensitive and i am really satisfied! As i understand, the same procedure will work for the Diamond.

Just press the start menu, go into the “settings”, press the “system” tab and then the “display” icon. Then do a new screen adjust, and when you press the cross with the stylys, just press it very briefly – just as brief as the screen accepts to feel the press.

Maybe the menues is placed in another way and the names at the icons above may have a different name in the Diamond – i have ordered it and i will have mine tomorrow. But with the tips abovce i am sure that you can find your way the the screen adjust in some way. ;-)

      Hope it helps!

      Regards,

I have used the phone for a few months now. I have one suggestion to potential buyers: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

Diamonds a great phone! Same if not blows away the iphone! From reviews I have seen on MULTIPLE SITES the Diamonds got a better display as far as resolution/pixel?? Plus, 1 of the things that drives me nuts and gives me a good laugh is the commercials for the iphone… They just had one bragging how they are sirius sat compatible! I have had WM phones for years and have listened to sirius radio on my past 5 phones?????? People who use Shaps Advanced Config should try using the “Diamond Tweak” app or the “TF3D config” tool as well. They have similar if not the same tweaks but each has there own different perks. Especially Diamond Tweak.

Really, thank you! I know a lot of people who’ve complained about this phone. I would say that unless you get the double battery power upgrade and the SHUTDOWN tweak this phone burns battery.

Saying that, it has one of the MOST sensitive wifi sensors [better than my PC]

I have had this phone for a couple months now (cdma version) and i absolutly hate it. I have never owned an iphone but if its anything like my ipod touch, there is no comparison, the touch is way better. This phone is definatly super cool looking.

Even with tweaks this phone is a huge pita. The battery dies from moderate use in as little as 4 hours. There are way to many programs/tweaks you have to download just to make this phone even slightly usable. There isnt even a standard headphone jack!

It constantly turns itself on and off in your pocket or case and if you dont lock the screen it will dial up your friends while you walk. Even with the tweaks, the screen isnt very sensitive compaired to capacitive. And dont get me started on the worst camera i have ever seen on a cellphone.

Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this phone, i wish i had.
